Am I suitable for skin needling?
The majority of people are suitable skin needling treatments. We do recommend booking in a complimentary consultation to discuss your skin and ensure this treatment is right for you. We do not usually recommend the treatment for clients with active acne however, this can be discussed further during your consultation.
How does this treatment differ to dermal rollers?
Be wary of products sold on the internet claiming to give you results that realistically, only medical grade equipment can give you! The main difference is the size and depth of the needle. At home kits are much smaller, therefore, the needle won’t penetrate the dermis correctly. There is also potential to cause damage to the skin if a roller is not used correctly.
Does it hurt?
No. It is virtually painless! Numbing cream is applied on the skin’s surface in order to make the experience as pleasant as possible. The sensation can be described as a fast, light vibration with slight flicks to the skin as the pen moves over the area.
How much time does my skin need to recover?
For the majority of clients, redness and inflammation on the skin will gradually minimise within hours of the treatment. Your skin should return to normal within 12-24 hours. Our therapists will guide you on how to take care of your skin post-treatment. It’s important that an LED Light Therapy session immediately follows the needling treatment. LED Light therapy will accelerate healing time and also enhance results.
Are you meant to bleed?
Not everyone will bleed, it just depends on how your skin responds to the needles and our therapists will only take the needle as far as your skin can handle. Bleeding does not mean better results.
What side effects are normal?
Your skin may appear slightly scratched and swollen within the first 24hrs; pinprick bruising may also occur but will gradually subside over the 24-48hours. It’s very normal for your skin to break out after the treatment as the skin is expelling toxins from beneath the surface.
What results can I expect from skin needling?
A free consultation with one of our clinical therapists will give you a better understanding of your suitability for the treatment. More often than not, if you have indented scarring, uneven skin surface or enlarged pores – you are the perfect candidate for the treatment. We do not usually recommend the treatment for clients with active acne, however this can be discussed further during your consultation.
