Skin Boosters
Skin Boosters contain Hyaluronic Acid (HA) which has the ability to hold 1000 times its weight in water and is a naturally occurring substance found in the body, making it safe to use in anti-ageing treatments.

How It Works
Skin Boosters work by making superficial injections into the surface of the skin. These injections deeply moisturise and hydrate the skin from within.
Firstly during a complimentary consultation a Cosmetic Nurse will assess the treatment area and discuss her treatment plan with you. Please note the amount of product used will depend on the treatment area and individual needs.
During treatment, a micro-needle is used to inject small amounts of Skin Booster to the areas of concern. Once injected the product acts as an "injectable moisturiser" hydrating the skin. Results of Skin Boosters can typically last between 4–12 months, and is naturally broken down and absorbed by the body. Please note that results can differ between clients.

Aftercare
- Apply a cool compress for 10 minutes every hour on the day of treatment (do not apply ice directly on your skin).
- Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
- Do not expose the area to intense heat (e.g. solarium or sauna).
- Avoid pressure on treated areas for the first few nights (i.e. sleep on back if possible).
- Pain relief such as paracetamol may be taken as directed by your physician.
- Consider a topical treatment such as Results Active Recovery Gel to help calm and soothe your skin.
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours.
- Do not use AHA, Retinols/Vitamin C therapy or oil based make-up for 24 hours.
- Avoid facials, facial waxing, Glycolic or AHA peels, IPL or energy based treatments and microdermabrasion for two weeks after treatment. Please check with your physician before undergoing other facial treatments within this time.
- Do not massage the treated area unless instructed by your physician.
- There is a small chance that a treatment may induce an outbreak of facial cold sores in patients with a previous history.

Unlike Dermal Fillers that function to create volume, Skin Boosters hydrate and nourish deeply, revitalising the skin, and improving its appearance and texture. The added benefit of micro-injection sites trigger the natural healing process, stimulating collagen & elastin and can help counteract the effects of skin ageing.

Every person has their own threshold for pain tolerance. A topical anaesthesia can be applied if you are concerned about pain. Typically using very small needles, there may be a stinging sensation during treatment. Our Cosmetic Nurses care about your experience, and will ensure you are comfortable throughout your treatment.
For the majority of clients, tenderness, inflammation and bruising will settle within 24–48 hours. The injection site "lumps" are a common result of treatment and will subside over 3–5 days. Our Cosmetic Nurses will guide you on how to take care of your skin post-treatment. LED Light Therapy can also help accelerate your healing time.
The majority of clients above the age of 18 are suitable for Skin Booster Treatments. We do recommend booking in a consultation with a Cosmetic Nurse to discuss your skin concerns and ensure this treatment is right for you. This treatment is not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women, persons under 18, those with an autoimmune disease, skin infections (in treatment area), and severe allergies.
The face, neck, decolletage and hands can be treated with Skin Boosters.
This will depend on your individual situation. Skin Booster injections can last between anywhere from 4–6 months depending on how quick your body absorbs the product. Your Cosmetic Nurse will recommend how many treatments you may require to achieve your skin goals.
You may experience some temporary side effects to Skin Booster treatments that include injection site nodules ("lumps") which will gradually subside within 3–5 days. Bruising, redness, swelling, pain and itching can last up to 24–48 hours. Our Cosmetic Nurse will ensure you are provided with the appropriate aftercare information.
Skin Booster results are seen approximately 1–2 weeks after treatment, by which point the Hyaluronic Acid has hydrated and smoothed out beneath the surface of the skin. Skin Booster components like antioxidants, minerals, amino acids and vitamins will gradually stimulate elastin and collagen in the skin, which can usually be seen 2–3 months after treatment.
Dermal Fillers and Skin Boosters are not the same product despite both containing Hyaluronic Acid. They behave in very different ways. Dermal Fillers are used to volumise, contour or augment specific areas of the face. Skin Boosters are used to deeply hydrate this skin which ultimately helps to improve the appearance of uneven textures, tone and condition of the skin. Skin boosters have a liquid form which can easily spread beneath your skin whereas Dermal Fillers are more of a gel like substance which stays where it is injected.
