About PDO Mono Threads and PD Threads
PDO Mono Threads and PD Threads are a minimally invasive treatment that tightens and firms the skin for a rejuvenated, more youthful-looking appearance.
As skin loses firmness, elasticity and volume over time, fine lines, wrinkles and sagging can develop. PDO Mono Threads are used to address facial sagging, creping skin and fine lines and wrinkles. The threads work beneath the surface to pull skin taut, then dissolve while stimulating natural collagen and elastin production.
Areas that can be addressed
- Upper and lower cheeks.
- Glabella lines.
- Nasolabial folds and smile lines.
- Smoker’s or mouth lines.
- Sagging jowls, jawline and chin.
- Neck lines.
The source describes PD Threads and Facial Thread Lifts as signature services and as a less invasive option for people seeking facial lifting. A complimentary consultation with the Cosmetic team is used to assess your features and create a treatment plan around your priorities.
How PD Threads Work
PDO Mono Threads use bio-dissolvable polydioxanone (PDO). These threads are 100% dissolvable and are used in surgical procedures worldwide. The source describes them as a safe option for cosmetic treatment because they encourage natural collagen production and renewal.
Using a non-incision method, the Cosmetic team gently inserts threads beneath the skin and anchors them into tissue to lift and tighten the area. The team assesses concerns and determines the right position and number of threads for the desired result.
As PDO Mono Threads dissolve, they stimulate collagen and elastin production. The source says this takes approximately eight to 12 weeks, when skin can begin to look firmer, rejuvenated and more youthful.
For enhanced rejuvenation after recovery, the source notes that PDO Mono Threads can be complemented with dermal filler or anti-wrinkle injections, non-surgical face or eye lifts, facial or Eye Rejuve Therapy. LED Light Therapy immediately before or after treatment may help minimise swelling and bruising and enhance results.
Your PDO Mono Threads Journey
- Book a complimentary consultation with a Cosmetic Nurse to discuss features, priorities, treatment details and expectations.
- If proceeding, follow pre-treatment requirements for two to four weeks. PDO Mono Threads generally take 45 to 60 minutes.
- Follow aftercare guidance and book a follow-up appointment to assess recovery and results. Recovery can take seven to 14 days.
- As the threads dissolve, effects can last for several months; the source recommends repeat treatment every six to 12 months.
Treatments are tailored to individual needs and priorities.
Benefits of PD Threads
- Instantly lifts the skin.
- Addresses visible signs of skin ageing.
- Restores natural facial contours.
- Helps reduce sagging and wrinkles.
- Plumps sunken areas and adds volume to flattened cheeks.
- Boosts collagen and elastin.
- Helps address shape and symmetry.
- May improve wrinkles around the lips, eyes and forehead.
- Is quick and less invasive than surgery, with minimal downtime compared with surgery.
How the benefits are achieved
Collagen and elastin support: PDO Mono Threads are strategically inserted within skin layers to gently pull and lift. As they dissolve, they stimulate collagen and elastin production beneath the surface.
Volume and plumpness: increased collagen production supports skin plumpness and elasticity, helping restore volume to hollow or sunken features.
Facial contours: a subtle lift can reduce the appearance of sagging and wrinkles and restore definition where the skin has lost firmness.
Fine lines and wrinkles: lifting and tightening the skin while increasing collagen and elastin can help skin look firmer and younger, including around the lips, eyes and forehead.

PDO Mono Thread treatments are usually completed in under an hour. Results can gradually appear over the next few weeks. The source recommends treatment every six to 12 months to maintain optimal results; after threads dissolve, collagen stimulation may leave skin firmer and more elastic and less prone to sagging or wrinkles.
