About Rosacea Treatment
Rosacea treatment is an innovative treatment performed with Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology to address redness and rosacea.
Rosacea is a progressive condition most commonly experienced on the cheeks, forehead, nose, and chin. It has flare-ups and periods of remission, and although there is no known permanent cure, the symptoms can be contained and managed, with regular treatments.
The non-invasive technology uses multiple wavelengths of light to treat the dilated blood vessels on the affected areas of the face. Effectively, what causes the Rosacea in the first place, absorbs the light emitted onto it to destroy the particles that display facial redness.
A dedicated treatment plan recommended by our clinical therapists will ensure redness and inflammation are kept under control.

Unlike some laser systems that target a single vessel at a time, IPL covers larger treatment areas in a single pass, making it highly effective for the diffuse facial redness that characterises most rosacea presentations.
What to Expect During Your Treatment
- Your therapist cleanses and assesses your skin
- A cooling gel is applied to the treatment area
- The IPL handpiece is passed across the skin in controlled pulses
- Most clients describe the sensation as a mild warmth or a light elastic flick
- Total treatment time is 20 to 30 minutes
- You can return to your day immediately after (some short-lived redness is normal)
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Most clients see meaningful improvement within 4 to 6 sessions, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. The exact number depends on:- The severity and duration of your rosacea
- Your skin type and sensitivity
- Which rosacea subtype you have
- How consistently you manage your triggers between sessions

Until all redness has gone, avoid:
- Using AHA, BHA or Vitamin A products.
- Waxing the area.
- Swimming pools & spas with chemicals / chlorine.
- Activities that cause excessive perspiration.
Do:
Swelling, bruising & redness may occur & last up to 72 hours, in some cases prolonged redness & blistering may be experienced.
- Apply a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser to soothe the skin
- Use broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen daily for at least two weeks post-treatment
- Keep the treated area cool
- Use lukewarm (not hot) water to cleanse
What to Avoid for 48 hours post-treatment:
- Sun exposure, saunas, steam rooms, or hot baths
- Strenuous exercise
- Makeup on the treated area (where possible)
- Active skincare ingredients including retinol, acids, and vitamin C
- Harsh exfoliants or scrubs
The area may blister, scab or crust
It usually heals in 7-10 days & will continue to fade over the next 2-4 weeks.
- Do not pick, scratch or remove scabs, this can lead to infection & permanent scarring.
- You can aid healing with medicated, anti-bacterial ointment.
- Avoid direct sunlight on the area. Apply SPF 50+ daily, ask about RESULTS PROTECT SPF 50+
There is a possibility of hair-loss in the treated area
If you experience prolonged redness, swelling, infection or any other issue with the treated skin, contact your clinic. In some cases we may advise you to contact your GP.

What is Rosacea?
Rosacea is a skin condition can be as minimal as a slight redness of the cheeks and nose or as severe as enlarged nasal oil glands and noticeable tissue build up around the nose (Rhinophyma). It is believed to be the inflammation and swelling of blood vessels. It is most common in middle-aged women. The symptoms most commonly include facial redness, small blood vessels, inflammation, and swelling.
How many treatments do I need?
To effectively treat and clear most active inflammatory Rosacea, we recommend 4-6 treatments every 2-4 weeks.
Does it hurt?
You may feel a short burst of heat as the light permeates the skin. Some people describe the sensation as a tingling or a slight pinching sensation.
Are there any after effects or risks?
The main side effects are mild, temporary swelling and redness. Crusting and bruising can also occur like a sunburn blistering.
When will I see results from rosacea treatments?
The results of laser treatment for Rosacea are gradual. Over 4-6 treatments is when most clients see an overall reduction of approximately 75%. Although results vary depending on skin type and priority areas.
Is IPL suitable for all skin types?
IPL works best on fair to medium skin tones. During your consultation, our therapists assess your skin type and rosacea presentation to confirm suitability and customise the treatment settings for you.
What is the difference between IPL and laser for rosacea?
IPL uses broad-spectrum light across a wide treatment area, making it ideal for diffuse background redness covering larger sections of the face. Vascular laser uses a single precise wavelength, which can be better for targeting individual visible vessels. –Will rosacea come back after treatment?
Because rosacea is a chronic condition, new vessels can form over time, and flare-ups can still occur if triggers are not managed. –Can I treat rosacea if I have sensitive skin?
